Welcome Festival 2017

Calderdale Freedom from Torture and Together We Grow are organising a second Welcome Festival on Saturday 16th September at 1.30pm.

This time it will be held in Todmorden – at the Central Methodist Church. Admission is free, drinks and cakes are free and all the various activities for children are free.

If you want to give a donation at the end of the event you are welcome to do so. And if you want to bring a cake to share you can do that too.

We have Women Asylum Seekers Together, WAST – http://www.wast.org.uk/wast-play/?cat=5, a choir from Greater Manchester coming. We have two Syrian singers performing. We have Anthony Brannick playing on the piano and talking briefly about Western music from Bach to Beatles.

There will also be children activities: Helen and Louise Curtis-Streich will run a singing workshop and hopefully get the children to perform in front of the audience afterwards. There will be arts and craft activities and more to be announced when finalised.

First Aid will be available during the event and for the Muslims wanting to pray there will be a private prayer room.

There will be stalls with information – among those invited are St Augustine Centre, Calder Valley of Sanctuary, Freedom from Torture, Survivors of Torture Activities Fund and Refugee Action.

All rooms in the Central Methodist Church will have disabled access.
