Visit to Hebden Bridge

On 14th October we had 36 refugees and asylum seekers coming to Hebden Bridge. We first stopped at the Something Sweet shop where Fran offered to buy all the children sweets of their choice, which was very popular. We then went to Ali’s house for drinks and snacks. Some parents took their children to the play area in the park, while others went around the shops and most of the men and boys had several games of football. We then all went to Fran and Lynette’s house for a buffet style lunch with recipes from several countries. Puddings followed. Some of the women started singing in Arabic and Turkish in the garden. At 5pm they all went home – rather tired.
