Concert at Victoria Theatre

On 16th October we took a group of asylum seekers and refugees to Victoria Theatre in Halifax to see a performance of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man, Dmitri Shostakovich’s Festive Overture and John Rutter’s Gloria.
The Halifax Choral Society had arranged the event and gave free tickets to the asylum seekers and refugees. Many thanks to the Society for their kind offer and special thanks to Ashley Sharp for organising it. The conductor welcomed the refugees, mentioned the Together We Grow organisation and the 600 plus in the audience clapped.
The choir was made up of Halifax Choral Society and The Yorkshire Youth Choir. The Black Dyke Band played the instruments.
Laura was looking after some of the refugee’s small children in the afternoon while the parents were at the concert. They went to park in Todmorden and had some dinner afterwards.
