Visit on 26th November

On 26th November we had 27 asylum seekers and refugees coming. It was warm sunshine with no wind – so ideal for playing outdoor, cutting and packing salads, celery, (green) tomatoes, mint, etc to take home.
Many of the small children made arts and craft decorations while some of the older children tried out the new table tennis. The boys – young and older – played football.
There was also a large amount of clothes, shoes, toys, duvets, rugs, two tables, books, CDs, games, a bike, etc for the asylum seekers and refugees to take from. Most of this will have to be delivered by us to their houses as it was too much and too heavy to carry.
After lunch we went to the Christmas Fair at the Chapel to have tea, coffee and cakes, visit the stalls and socialise. Many thanks to the café team to provide these refreshments for free to the asylum seekers and refugees.
Once again thanks to the volunteer drivers transporting them up and down from Hebden Bridge. And thanks to the volunteers who helped making lunch, washing up, playing games, etc.
