We had another Healthy Holiday scheme during the October half-term. The funding is from Community Foundation For Calderdale, CFFC.
Each day we first went to Halifax to buy our friends train tickets to Todmorden. We use Todmorden College as our base and their new kitchen was very useful as the Kindness Cafe could not host us this time.
On the first day after fruit and drinks we had a session with Mick from the Makery, https://todmordenmakery.org.uk/, where we made robots that could move and show lights in different colours.
As Halifax Panthers also used Todmorden College as the base for their Healthy Holiday scheme we share the same caterers, got Halifax Panthers to do a minimum of an hour’s physical activity with our group each day, share other activities, like the gym.
After a warm vegetarian lunch we went to the park to play ball, frees-bee and the play area with lovely sunshine. Back to the college for more drinks, fruit and snacks. A bakery had left us with a big bag of bread rolls and a big bag of croissants. Many thanks.
The day was finished with each family getting a box of 40 classic board games to take home and keep for playing during the winter months. We showed them how to play snakes and ladders and each day we will try a new game.
So there was a lot of fruit and food to take home. Many thanks to the caterers, the volunteers, Todmorden College and CFFC.
