Visit on 15th April

On 15th April we had 29 refugees and asylum seekers visiting Blackshaw Head. The men moved topsoil into raised beds and into the poly tunnel.
The children played football, table tennis, swing ball, did arts and craft activities – like making decorated cards – and had indoor games.
The women selected clothes, shoes, games and picked vegetables from the poly tunnel to take home plus planted some into pots.
For lunch we had sweet potato soup, lentil soup, jacked potatoes, salads, falafels and coleslaw.
Thanks to all the drivers who gave lifts from and to the train station and to the many volunteers who made lunch, did the washing up and were involved in all the various activities.
Also many thanks to Redacre for donating homemade honey to the asylum seekers and refugees.
