Interfaith week

As part of Interfaith week Together We Grow took 50 refugees to visit the Jamia Mosque Madni in Halifax and the Halifax Minster.

At the mosque we were shown around, heard about Islam and what takes place in the mosque. One of the refugees talked about an interfaith group she is involved in. There was also a chance to ask questions.

We then went to Carlton Hotel, where we were served a free lunch for the refugees and our volunteers. Unfortunately, due to lunch running late we had to rush to Halifax Minster and did not have time for the ice cream.

At the Minster the priest showed us around the church and talked about Christianity plus answered questions. Due to the Minster closing at 4pm there was not time to hear a talk from the Methodist Church and from a non-religious humanist.
We had tried to get a Buddhist and a Jewish speaker too but that had not been possible.

We would like to thank the mosque, Carlton Hotel and the Minster for their warm welcome and helping us all raise awareness of different belief systems.
