A lovely day in Halifax

On 14th April we spend the day in Halifax with 36 refugees and asylum seekers – first visiting The Industrial Museum where a small army of volunteers explained the rich history of the area, really fascinating. For the smaller children it was the machine that could pack chocolates that seemed most interesting – perhaps because we all were given a chocolate to eat. Many thanks to the museum for such a warm welcome and for letting us in with us just giving a small donation.

We then went to the Franganos restaurant to have lunch, which was very popular. We had ordered the food in advance so we could have it served, eaten and able to leave after an hour. Many thanks to the restaurant for giving us a discount on the bill.

Then we were off to Piece Hall where some volunteers took us around in groups and told us the history of the place, showing us some of the rooms in the hall. Many thanks to the Piece Hall for not charging us for these guided tours.

Afterwards, it was up to everyone to do what they wanted. Some wanted to see more of the rooms in the Piece Hall, others wanted to see the indoor marked and some just wanted to wonder around town in the warm sunshine.
