In addition to the food parcels delivered up to half-term Together We Grow joined forces with St Augustine’s Centre to give over 450 food parcels to 126 asylum seeker families in Calderdale. Together We Grow bought the food and took it to St Augustine’s Centre, who organised the delivery. Together We Grow delivered to 26 families in Rochdale. St Augustine’s Centre got Christmas presents for each family member in the 152 families.
The food costs over £5,000 – partly paid for by a grant of £3,000 from the Community Foundation For Calderdale, which got the money from Calderdale Council. The £2,000 plus was paid for by individual donations to Together We Grow.In total 27 volunteers helped with the purchase, packing of food parcels, wrapping of Christmas presents and the delivery to the 152 families. Many thanks to the all and to CFFC and CMBC for their help.
