Visit to Hebden Bridge

44 refugees attended our event on 10th February at Hope Baptist Church in Hebden Bridge. We had a playroom upstairs for the children to use but also took nine children to play in the park. We had room upstairs for those who wanted to pray. Two rooms downstairs where we had lunch, could sit and socialise.
Some refugees went around town – to look at charity shops, etc. Two of the Syrians sang in the big hall as part of an afternoon with some amazing performers.

Vicky came to do English conversation practise with some. Steve came with a guitar to a teenage refugee and give him a lesson in how to play on it and offered to come back to do more lessons. Lisa came to do an audio interview with one of the refugees, which will be edited and used on our website and Facebook page along with other refugees telling their stories. Many thanks to them all.

Also many thanks to all the church volunteers who were so helpful and made us feel welcome and to John, Pat, Beryl, Marian, Joan, Jez and Laura for helping out with all the activities.
