A successful day out

Over 50 refugees and asylum seekers came to Hebden Bridge on 20th April – half of them children. We all had lunch in the town hall before going to the cinema to see the Dumbo film, where everyone had popcorn, drinks and sweets.

Most of the refugees and asylum seekers stayed in Hebden Bridge after the film, to play in the park, see the town, etc.

Many thanks to Friends of the Picture House for providing the lunch and the film. They want to arrange such events on a monthly basis for the refugees and asylum seekers. Also thanks to the town hall for providing the venue for free and to the volunteers for helping out.

It was an opportunity for refugees from Together We Grow to meet refugees from St Augustine’s Centre.
